Tall Lady in London

I recently saw Tall Lady perform in London, and they were outstanding. They have incredible energy and passion, demonstrating how to truly command a small stage. The band's chemistry was excellent, as they were clearly locked in and enjoying every second on the stage. I firmly believe that a successful band should not only create innovative and quality music but also provide energy and entertainment through audience interaction. Tall Lady has truly mastered this.

Musically, they’ve written some quality tracks. If you enjoy 90s funk and disco vibes reminiscent of early Jamiroquai, you’ll likely appreciate their music. However, they also shift into some more rocky numbers, blending blues rock with their strong funk foundation.

If you check out their Lady Fever EP, you get the range immediately. “Supermarket Cowboy” has a Stevie Ray Vaughn sounding blues overdrive guitar that swaps between a groovy baseline that creates a real dancy blues track. But then you get into a track like “Radiator Blues,” which showcases a blend of various musical styles. The track features great guitar work, with a blues guitar solo infused with the distinctive Frusciante style rhythm sections. This adds a unique flair to the overall sound, while the rhythm section delivers a groovy, disco-style backbeat that really keeps the energy going throughout.

A massive shoutout to the lead guitarist for his incredible stage presence and genuine entertainment value. His solos were skilful and exciting, never overdoing it with showy excess. Instead, they served the song perfectly.

Tall Lady is a top tier live band right now. They deliver a sound that is both familiar and fresh. Go listen to Lady Fever now, and if they come to your town, get a ticket.
